Circle Partners with Sasai Fintech to Enhance USDC Adoption in Africa

Circle Internet Group has teamed up with African fintech firm Sasai on March 24, 2026, to integrate its USDC stablecoin into Sasai’s payment systems, aiming to facilitate cross-border payments across roughly 30 African countries.

This partnership is set to reduce transaction costs and settlement times while improving transparency in remittances, targeting high-demand markets where mobile money solutions are prevalent. For Circle, this collaboration highlights its commitment to expanding the global reach of USDC amidst increasing interest in cryptocurrency solutions for financial inclusion.

Goals and Benefits of the Partnership

The collaboration intends to leverage Circle’s onchain infrastructure to enhance Sasai’s digital wallet offerings and remittance services. By embedding USDC into local payment systems, users will benefit from lower transaction fees and faster processing times compared to traditional methods.

As Jeremy Allaire, CEO of Circle, noted, Africa is rapidly adopting stablecoins, and this partnership seeks to position USDC as a preferred option for making cross-border transfers more accessible. The move aligns with Circle’s broader strategy, integrating stablecoins into everyday financial processes, including merchant payments and individual remittances.

Furthermore, Strive Masiyiwa, founder of Cassava Technologies, emphasized the significance of this partnership in enhancing the mobile-first digital economy in Africa. He stated that it not only promotes financial inclusion but also addresses the challenges of currency volatility, allowing users to hedge against local currency risks effectively.

Broader Industry Implications

Circle’s partnership with Sasai underscores a growing trend among financial institutions seeking innovative ways to leverage cryptocurrencies for enhancing payment infrastructures. As mobile money continues to gain traction across Africa, the integration of digital currencies into existing systems is likely to accelerate.

Analysts foresee increased adoption of USDC in various financial transactions throughout the continent. This aligns with a broader global trend, as more companies and financial institutions express interest in utilizing cryptocurrencies to streamline operations and improve efficiencies.

As the landscape for cross-border payments continues to evolve, collaborations like this one are crucial in shaping how digital currencies can serve as practical tools for everyday financial activities, especially in emerging markets where traditional banking infrastructure may be underdeveloped.
